Support the striking shipbuilders at BIW

MSEA members support Local S6

MSEA-SEIU members show their solidarity with the striking members of Local S6 in Bath.

Dear MSEA-SEIU Members,

Whenever the collective bargaining rights of Maine’s public workers have come under attack, the union shipbuilders at Bath Iron Works stood up to defend your right to a voice in your wages, benefits and working conditions. They’ve converged on the State House on short notice for your rights. Now it’s our turn to stand in solidarity with our union siblings at Local S6.

The members of Local S6 make up the largest union at Bath Iron Works and went on strike June 22. They’re fighting management attempts to subcontract their jobs and weaken seniority. Please join me in demanding a fair contract for the striking members of Local S6:

Wear a mask, wear purple, bring a sign and join the picket line: Local S6 members are picketing 24/7 outside the shipyard’s North Gate, in front of the union hall at 722 Washington St., Bath, or outside the South Gate. They’re picketing the East Brunswick Manufacturing Facility (16 Mallett Park Drive, Brunswick) and the Hardings Facility (381 Bath Road, Brunswick). Parking around the shipyard can be hard to find; you may need to park and walk.

In Solidarity,
Dear Staffieri
